Lifestyle Changes

Irrespective of the ultimate treatment rendered, lifestyle and risk factor modification is critical to the long-term success in the management of Peripheral Artery Disease (“PAD”). While one of the more important risk factors leading to PAD, genetics, cannot be modified, those that can be altered must be addressed if PAD is to be treated successfully. Those with a strong family history of PAD or other atherosclerotic diseases (such as heart disease or stroke) are genetically predisposed to developing PAD. While this increases the likelihood of developing PAD, it does NOT mean that one cannot alter their fate!
